Rhapsody announced in October that the music service will be available to TiVO subscribers through their DVRs. This is like taking all of the 800 poorly programmed stations on channels 900 - 999 and replacing them with a library of 6,000,000+ full songs, 750,000+ albums, 100’s of good channels and playlists that you choose. This is great for both Rhapsody who gets the service in front of millions of TiVO owners and TiVO who adds a really great option to their DVR.
Here’s a screenshot of the TiVo menu with Rhapsody:
. Notice how it is built seamlessly into the TiVo interface.

Here is how to get the best deal available for TiVo and Rhapsody:
If you own a TiVo box AND have a Rhapsody membership:
- Make sure you have a TiVo Series2 or TiVo HD box (Rhapsody won’t work on Series1).
- Select Music, Photos, Products, & More from TiVo Central. Click on Rhapsody Music Service and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your Rhapsody username and password.
If you own a TiVo box and don’t have a Rhapsody membership, get 30 days free of Rhapsody with no credit card required. Click here for the offer page.
If you DON’T own a TiVo, but want to get one you can get a Series2 for $99.99 or a TiVo HD plus a WiFi adapter for $299.99 PLUS Rhapsody FREE for 3 months. Click here for this offer.
If you currently have a cable company DVR, you break even with the monthly TiVo fee by dropping the DVR fee and hardware rental from Comcast, COX or whoever. The TiVo interface is much better (I personally HATE the new Comcast interface) AND you can have Rhapsody pumping through your home entertainment system. SWEET!
