I’m a huge Black Crowes fan, have been since Shake Your Money Maker when a buddy said “you have to listen to these guys!”. With that said, I wish Warpaint was better. The up tempo songs don’t have the same energy as early work and the melodic, slower songs don’t have the same heart. While there are some gems on this album (Locust Street and God’s Got it are my favorites) there is not enough here to purchase the CD. Thanks for saving $14.99 Rhapsody!
- Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution - a good song, but not great. The first single.
- Walk Believer Walk - a plodding song that I forced myself to listen to all the way through.
- Josephine - started off nice, but almost put me to sleep.
- Evergreen - this is a sit on your couch with a doobie and bottle of Jack and chill. And then fall asleep.
- Wee Who See the Deep - one of the better songs on the album. Decent rhythm and underlying guitar. Still not awesome.
- Locust Street - Love this song, reminds me of Graham Parsons.
- Movin’ on Down the Line - This song has a nice groove. Takes a little bit to get going, but I enjoyed it.
- Wounded Bird - Too artsy and off key. Downer.
- God’s Got it - Old time gospel bluesy feel (with an electric guitar!). I like this one a lot.
- There Gold in Them Hills - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- Whoa Mule - A nice way to end the album. Kind of a country blues folk vibe that starts slow, but picks up and has a nice sound.
