New Rhapsody Music Channels from VH1, CMT and The Blues! September 10th, 2007

Thanks to the partnership with Viacom, we’re seeing some new music channels that we’re digging. I’m loving the TGIF Blues channel - lots of fun classic blues like Albert King, The Kinsey Report, Lonnie Brooks and Ruth Brown. They even throw in some Cream and Blues Brothers - Yes! My wife is enjoying the VH1 - I Love the 80’s channel. She is re-living her party peak with tunes from The Smithereens, Talk Talk, Pet Shop Boys and Sinead O’Conner. There is also a CMT (country music television) channel, VH1 Classic (Jackson Browne, INXS, The Byrds). All nice adds to the channel guide at Rhapsody.com!

We had a soccer coach from Whales stay with us last week while our kids were in the British Challenger Soccer camp. Adam, great guy. Anyhow, we asked him to pick out a bunch of music to play so we created the Adam playlist. He picked lots of music that we now love. Some of the highlights include:
- The Kooks: a great band that is getting bigger in the UK. Reminds me of early The Jam.
- Razorlight: another up and coming band that has hit the charts in the UK but not in the US.

John Legend - Grammy Nominee February 8th, 2006

One of the things I like about the Grammys is that I get an opportunity to listen to new music. I’m kind of an old school rock, folk, jazz type of guy, but love neo-soul like india arie. I have never purchased John Legend music, but saw that he was on the grammy nominee list and read the editorial about him on Rhapsody while listening. I love his music and have added another musician (a new artist no less!) to my listening repertoire. I think I’ll burn his new CD and play it for the missus on Valentine’s Day.

Here is what Rhapsody says about him.

I remember the first time I heard Mustang Sally. I was in a bar in Colorado (I was underage - shhhhhh) and heard the band play a rockin’ version. I asked them if it was original and they “it’s Wilson Pickett - where you been?” Where I been indeed. Here’s a playlist of some of my favorites from the Wicked Pickett.
